The Annual CxEnergy Conference & Expo, the #1 conference dedicated to commissioning, energy management and building diagnostics, returned with a bang in Orlando, Florida after a three-year in-person hiatus due to the coronavirus. Attendance was higher than expected, and the energy was palatable with peers reuniting after years of being restricted to virtual engagements.
“I really missed getting out there and participating and it was very rewarding to not only catch up with professionals, friends, and colleagues but to be able to participate and contribute to the organization once more.”
–James Anderton, CxA, Director of Commissioning, Salas O’Brien, CxEnergy 2022 Attendee
CxEnergy kicked off with an organizational update from ACG Executive Director Ray Bert, who announced the all new ACG Building Systems Commissioning Guideline, free to members of ACG and the Energy Management Association (EMA). Click here to learn how to get your copy.
Wade Conlan, PE, CxA, BCxP, LEED AP, ASHRAE Director-at-Large, spoke briefly, a testament to the presenting organizations’ recent MOU with ASHRAE. Chris Castro, a renowned public official, energy enthusiast, and Director of Sustainability & Resilience at the City of Orlando, followed with a plenary address on tackling climate change through facility optimization. He shared how the City of Orlando has been transformed into a trailblazer for smart city goals and a national leader for energy efficient new and existing buildings.
Related topics bled into the CxEnergy technical program, featuring 32 sessions on topics ranging from lighting controls to the commissioning of federal buildings. The expo hall offered 50 exhibitors who showcased commissioning software, controls, TAB instrumentation, and other services, many of whom have returned to CxEnergy for 6 straight years in a row – including participating in virtual renditions the past few years.
“Anyone in the commissioning industry in any form should give CxEnergy a try at least once. In my view, it has the best program of all the different conferences we’ve gone to, it has the best atmosphere, and is even the most well-organized.”
-Jacob Terry, CxAlloy, Gold Sponsor/Exhibitor
