Washington, D.C. — CxEnergy 2024, the conference and expo held annually by the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG), brought nearly 600 participants in the fields of commissioning, energy management, and testing, adjusting & balancing (TAB) to San Diego, Calif., at the end of April. A joint effort of ACG, the Energy Management Association (EMA), and the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC), CxEnergy offered 32 technical sessions from industry experts.
Speakers with a range of commissioning experience covered relevant topics such as technology and artificial intelligence, workforce and talent development, updates on industry standards, case studies, and more. Energy management professionals spoke about energy efficiency, savings, storage, and other leading industry topics. The conference program fostered engaging discussions between attendees and speakers, connecting commissioning and energy management professionals with building owners and facility managers.
I enjoyed the conference very much. There were many great technical sessions to attend that had lots of useful information… The trade exhibit had a wide variety of organizations that made some great impressions… I am fortunate for the opportunity to attend and meet so many talented and passionate people.

Maston, PE, of Colliers Project Leaders, then spoke on decarbonization and commercial buildings, discussing the ongoing development of several significant decarbonization standards.
In addition to a cutting-edge educational program, CxEnergy 2024 offered an expo hall featuring more than 40 exhibitors showcasing the latest software, technology, devices, and other services for commissioning, energy management, and TAB. New this year was the CxEnergy Technology Theater, an exciting opportunity for exhibitors to present their latest products. Headphones allowed Theater attendees to watch short presentations from four exhibitors in the midst of the bustling expo hall.
My experience was nothing but positive. It was my first CxEnergy, and it was by FAR the best conference I have ever been to! Starting with the EMA Golf Tournament, to all the sessions and exhibitors, everything was great. It was awesome to meet up with some of our current clients from around the country, as well as meet some new faces that were interested in our services. 10/10 experience and I am already looking forward to next year!

To close out the conference, a small group of attendees toured the J. Craig Venter Institute, an innovative research facility that generates almost all of its own energy and serves as a model for sustainability in research buildings.
